PIR - PUR - PUF insulation is the insulation in which polyurethane based insulation materials are used. Polyisocyanurate foam is used in PIR insulation, and polyurethane foam is used in PUR and PUF insulation. The insulation material to be used is determined according to the customer specifications and details, this is PIR, PUR or PUF.
These main insulation materials to be used in PIR - PUR - PUF insulation are cut at the factory by the manufacturer according to the surface detail to be applied. This surface can be a pipe, elbow, curved structure, or a flat plate.
These main insulation materials to be used in insulation PIR - PUR - PUF insulation, which is a cold insulation type, can also be applied to different surface or fluid types, especially cryogenic lines. Operating temperatures are between -200 °C and +120 °C. Since it is an expensive material, it is not preferred in lines operating in continuous regime at plus temperatures.
Some issues related to PIR - PUR - PUF insulation application are as follows
PIR - PUR - PUF insulation is fixed with the help of filament tape or stainless steel circles according to the application type and surface.
In PIR - PUR - PUF insulation, which consists of two or more layers, multi-layer foil is applied between the layers, preventing corrosion and possible vapor passages between the surfaces due to vibration. Secondary vapor barrier can also be made by the manufacturer, preferably at the factory.
Provided that the applications in the specifications are taken as a basis, primary vapor barrier is applied to the top layer PIR - PUR - PUF insulation. In vapor barrier application, vapor barrier can be created by using liquid mastics, where a multi-layer composite sheet can be preferred.
PIR - PUR - PUF insulation and vapor barrier completed surfaces are covered with suitable coating material. The point to be considered here is not to damage the vapor barrier during the application of the coating material.
Materials such as aluminum, steel, galvanization and its alloys, pvc, hdpe, pp, ctp can be used as coating material.
